My mother is near blind and lives with me. I have looked for a craft or something that would keep her busy. I thank you for sharing your craft with us, it is exactly what I was looking for. She loves making your rugs.
Dear Aunt Philly,
This year I lost my job and didn't know what I was going to do for Christmas gifts. One of my friends shared your video with me on how to make toothbrush rugs. At first I said what? Then I began thinking about all of the fabric that I had purchased over the years and decided that this would be the answer to what I was looking for. I would make rugs for everyone for Christmas. I love making your rugs, not only is it an answer to prayer but they are fun to make. May God Bless you!

Dear Aunt Philly,
I am the person who sent you an email asking you which patterns that you would advise me to purchase for my 10 year-old daughter. I took your advice and purchased your video for her and made it a mother/daughter craft project. We have already made several rugs. We would like to order the basket pattern, rectangle/square and the fish pattern.
Subject: I LOVE THESE RUGS!!!
I FIRST SAW AUNT PHILLY'S TOOTHBRUSH RUGS AT A CRAFT SHOW IN TAMPA AT
THE FLORIDA STATE FAIR GROUNDS. THAT WAS 1986. I BOUGHT THE HEART SHAPED RUG PATTERN AND A TOOTHBRUSH TOOL. I FIRST TRIED TO MAKE THE RUG WITH AN OLD GUM TOOTHBRUSH AND FOUND THE TOOTHBRUSH VERY THICK TO WORK WITH. I THEN USED THE TOOTHBRUSH TOOL - IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM. I MADE MYSELF A RUG 14 YEARS AGO THAT I STILL USE TODAY ON MY KITCHEN FLOOR. YES THE RUG HAS LASTED 14 YRS. IT HAS SEEN MANY MANY WASHINGS, DRYINGS, SPILLS AND NOW TWO LITTLE KIDS. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL OF THESE RUGS AS GIFTS. IN FACT I HAVE MADE THESE RUGS FOR MY PARENTS WHO LIVE ON A FARM IN MICHIGAN AND THEY HAVE SHEEP. I MADE THEM OUT OF MUSLIN SO MY MOTHER CAN WASH THEM WITH BLEACH AND TOSS THEM IN THE DRYER AND THEY LOOK AS GOOD AS THE FIRST DAY I GAVE THEM TO HER. I HAVE MADE THESE RUGS A HOUSEWARMING GIFTS. PEOPLE ARE AMAZED THAT I MADE THEM.
LIKE I STATED EARLIER I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN (ONE 3YR OLD & ONE 18MO OLD) AND I FIND MAKING THESE RUGS TO BE VERY RELAXING. IF I ONLY HAVE 15 MINUTES TO WORK ON THEM OR IF I CAN SPARE AN HOUR I FEEL A REAL SENSE OF ACCOPLISHMENT BECAUSE THESE RUGS WORK UP QUICKLY. I 'M NOW GOING TO MAKE CHAIR PADS FOR MY KITCHEN CHAIRS. WHAT A GREAT IDEA WITH THE TOOTHBRUSH RUGS. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Hi! I cant' tell you how excited I am to have just spent the last few delightful minutes with your WebSite! Mostly, I can't WAIT to start ordering patterns, and really "get into" your wonderful Toothbrush Rug technique. Since you have been doing all this since you were 8 years old, it is obviously "second nature" to you, but having just seen it for the first time yesterday, it absolutely knocked me off my feet ! It is an absolute miracle the way you did everything---from the measuring and ripping, to the stitches themselves----and then came the circle mat/rug---right before our eyes! What a wonderful talent, to master it the way you have! My question for you is this (before I get started!): At the very end of your segment on Carol's Show yesterday, she held up a video, and I was
hoping that it was an "instructional" type, but from all the titles listed on your web site, I really didn't see that. Could you please advise me which one would be the best to order first?! In my opinion I think the oval is the best. I plan to be watching again on the 27th, and will try to tape you, but I still want a video to help me learn, if there is one. Many thanks for answering me, if you have a minute. I am so excited
about this, and just can't wait to get started!!
I had no problems at all with my little rug , it lays flat and as near as I can tell it looks like the picture. I do have to get more fabric, I only bought 6 yards,so I have to run and get some more! You were right it really works fast. Thanks again .
Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying making my rug. It's relaxing and fun! My family even seems to like watching my rug grow.
Thanks for making the instructions and tools available.
Well, we went on our trip! My needles and the book arrived on Friday. (thanks to your speedy service! ) My new rugs are gorgeous! I made 2 small ones, and I made a trivet thing because my husband thought it would be cool! LOL. My 7 1/2 year old loved it and has learned sort of to do it as well! I'm left handed, and the directions even worked for me. (grin) I am telling folks I know about your stuff, Phyllis... I am in an online quilt guild, and the ladies all have extra fabric strips laying around that need used, and I can't tell you how perfect this is for that! I saw your stuff, by the way, on the Carol Duvall show and was intrigued... :)
Still having fun,
I saw you in the wee hours of the morning on Carol Duvall. I thought this would be a great project to do with my granddaughter. I just faxed over an order. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make memories with my family.
